"If you love me, you will keep my commandments."

The words of Jesus; John 14:15

What We Believe

At the Waterloo Road Church of Christ, we are simply Christians striving to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and the pattern of the New Testament church. We are not part of any denomination, but seek to be united in Christ by returning to the Bible as our only guide in faith and practice.

Here are a few key things we believe and practice:

The Bible is Our Authority

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our complete guide for life, worship, and salvation. We look especially to the New Testament to understand how to live as followers of Christ today.

Salvation Is Through Jesus

We believe salvation comes by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. In response to the gospel, the Bible teaches that a person must:

  • Hear the message of Christ (Romans 10:17)

  • Believe in Jesus as the Son of God (Mark 16:16)

  • Repent of sin (Acts 2:38)

  • Confess faith in Jesus (Romans 10:9–10)

  • Be baptized for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21)

  • Live faithfully to the Lord (Revelation 2:10)

Baptism by Immersion

We practice baptism by immersion in water, just as the early Christians did. Baptism is an essential step of faith that unites us with Christ and marks the forgiveness of our sins (Romans 6:3–4).

Simple, A Cappella Worship

Our worship is simple and sincere. We sing together without instruments, pray, study the Bible, and take the Lord’s Supper every Sunday to remember Jesus’ sacrifice (Acts 20:7; Ephesians 5:19).

The Lord’s Church

We believe the church belongs to Christ. Each congregation is independent and led by qualified elders and assisted by deacons, following the example found in the New Testament (Philippians 1:1; Titus 1:5).

Christian Living

As Christians, we seek to live lives of love, holiness, service, and truth. Our goal is to glorify God, encourage one another, and share the good news of Jesus with others.
